The totals are in and the donations are sent! Thank you, SkålCon 2024 attendees, for raising $5000 for charity!!!
We split this total equally between Tubman and Pawsitivity Service Dogs, sending each organization $2500 each. They are very appreciative of our community! Here are excerpts from their thank you messages.
From Tubman:
You are a beacon of hope! Thank you for your gift of $2,500.00 in support of Tubman’s comprehensive continuum of services. We are deeply grateful to you.
You are helping us to provide safety, hope, and healing to about 18,000 individuals and families each year. In addition to shelter and housing, Tubman also provides mental and chemical health services, legal services, youth programs, and workshops and support groups. Our doors are open to people of all ages, gender identities and cultural backgrounds.
From Pawsitivity Service Dogs:
Partnering with a service dog means that a veteran can leave the house with their head held high, with less need for medication, better mental health, and a whole new outlook on life. Today, your gift has made that possible – more veterans will partner with the life-changing service dogs they deserve. Thank you all for your generous gift in support of this important mission!
A Note On SkålCOnline
As you probably could tell from the lack of activity, we decided not to hold SkålCOnline this year. Mainly, our core convention organizers do not have the bandwidth or expertise to fully organize and plan an online Pathfinder/Starfinder convention, especially so soon after SkålCon.
We do like gathering with our friends who cannot attend SkålCon in-person, but we will need to brainstorm new ways to do so, or partner with another group to organize with. Feel free to contact us here or via email if you have any suggestions on this matter.
What’s next?
10,000 Lakes Gaming will have its annual board meeting on 12/19, online in the 10,000 Lakes Gaming discord. This is a great opportunity to join our non-profit board if you’d like to volunteer more for the organization that plans SkålCon!
Otherwise, stay tuned this winter (in January, we hope!) for more information on SkålCon 2025 September 26-28, including registration and game submissions!
